Meta rules Rules apply

Cosmetic procedures and surgeries are 18+ only. Non permanent cosmetics are out of scope.

  • Ads promoting or marketing cosmetic products, procedures or surgeries, must be targeted to people at least 18 years or older.
  • In-scope examples include breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, dermal fillers, injectable treatments, chemical peels, micro-needling and laser treatments.
  • Allowed: before and after images for general cosmetic products, procedures and surgeries.
  • Banned: content that makes people feel inferior about how they look. Also banned: skin whitening or bleaching products that change skin colour permanently.
  • The age rule does not apply to non-permanent cosmetic and beauty products. These include creams, makeup, hair products, digital editing apps and teeth whitening products.
  • Dec 26 2024 version: anti-aging and Botox ads could use close-ups that show realistic results over time. They could not use side-by-side comparisons. It is unclear if this still applies after the July 2026 revision (see unverified list).
  • Prescription injectables (botulinum toxin) also fall under the Rx policy.

Google rules Rules apply

No dedicated cosmetic surgery ad ban was found. Cosmetic surgery is a sensitive health category for personalized ads. Rx injectables follow the Rx policy.

  • The Health category for personalized ads includes invasive procedures such as cosmetic surgery. Advertisers cannot use audiences they build themselves.
  • Botox and other Rx brand terms are promotional only in the US, Canada and New Zealand (Oct 2025).
  • Misrepresentation and Unreliable claims apply to efficacy claims.

Reddit rules Allowed with rules

  • Cosmetic procedures follow the Rx and clinic rules: no false or exaggerated claims, no before-and-after photos, no body-shaming
  • Ordinary cosmetics have no dedicated policy, so the general deceptive and editorial rules apply

Before you launch: licensed clinics, sales rep if Rx or clinic
